Floral Preservation

All you need to know about floral preservation with Flowers by Nerel

  • I use a traditional method of pressing flowers, which means your bouquet will dry over the course of around 4 weeks. During this time, I check on your flowers and change the paper in the press so they dry as beautifully as possible. This method tends to give pressed flowers a more vintage feel in comparison to modern methods like using a microwave to press flowers. Because your wedding day is a memory that will last forever, I hope to create a timeless piece of art for you to remember it by. I have carefully chosen three frames to choose from which I feel would compliment my personal floral arrangement style well.

  • If you’re surprised that you can mail your wedding bouquet to me, you’re not alone! It’s a surprise to most people! Your wedding bouquet needs to be shipped to me as soon as possible after your wedding. 1-3 days is ideal. Flowers press best when they’re fresh! Follow these steps to ensure your bouquet makes it safely to me:

    1. After your wedding, trim the stems of your bouquet (just a little) and keep your bouquet in a vase of water until it is time to package it up.

    2. Get a box big enough to fit your bouquet without squishing it and a non-plastic filler. Old newspaper is perfect for this!

    3. Wrap the stems of the bouquet in damp paper towels or a cloth. Cover the damp cloth not the whole bouquet in a plastic bag. This is so the water does not leak through the box!

    4. Stuff the box full, around your bouquet, with the non-plastic filler. Pack it tight enough so that the bouquet will not be moving around in the box, but not too tight the flowers get squished!

    5. Tape the box shut and label it fragile in a few different places. You could even label it “this side up” so your bouquet stays upright.

    6. Go to your local post office and ship it with next day delivery. This is crucial so that your flowers are as fresh as possible when I receive them.

Address will be sent to you once you have payed your deposit

    7. When I receive your flowers, I will email and let you know, along with a picture of your bouquet.
